Matteo Pescatori
Head of Marine
Matteo joined the Orion Group from Cambiaso Risso's London office where he was a broker for 10 years managing a wide range of marine insurance lines, including Hull & Machinery, Increased Value, War Risks, and Loss of Hire insurance. The Orion Group includes Cambiaso Risso as a strategic partner who provide a network of global offices with a strong focus on HM, War and P&I risks. Matteo's London experience is invaluable to the Orion team in designing tailored policy terms and advising on markets using the CR offices.

Bhoovarahan Desikan (Bhoova)

Senior Broker - Marine, Specialty Lines
With over 30 years of experience in risk management across global markets, Bhoovarahan Desikan – known to many as Bhoova - is a seasoned expert in structuring insurance solutions for the complex world of commodity trading and shipping. His career includes insurance leadership roles at major firms Noble Group, Adnoc Global Trading, and Univan where he managed the insurance and risk portfolios. Bhoova also worked for a period with Marsh Hong Kong. His remit with the Orion Group is expanding the Marine, Cargo, Trade Credit, and Financial Lines book. Bhoova is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Fellow of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

Dennis Dsouza
Marine Insurance Broker
Dennis joined Orion Insurance Group in December 2022. With around nine years' marine insurance experience in Dubai, he has developed strong market knowledge across Orion's marine, shipping, and yacht portfolios. In addition, Dennis supports cedent marine reinsurance placements, assisting with risk presentations, market engagement, and coordination of terms to help cedents secure robust, reliable reinsurance protection aligned to their portfolio.

Ian Wilson
Claims Manager
Ian recently joined Orion to the newly appointed position as Claims Manager. After 14 years at sea—culminating as Chief Engineer—Ian spent the next 30 years in senior positions across the Middle East including as a Lloyd's Register Surveyor, Ship Manager, and senior marine H&M and P&I surveyor roles. He has extensive insurance-related experience, including H&M and P&I damage and warranty surveys. His specialist work includes JH 143 shipyard audits for new and existing vessels, Port and Terminal Risk Management, towage and voyage approvals, MWS approvals, and General Average surveyor assignments. Ian has worked across Europe, Africa, and the Middle and Far East, attending vessels, shipyards, and ports on behalf of underwriters and owners. He is a Fellow of the Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors.

David Smeulders
Specialist Line Broker
David's 40 year extensive experience in the marine industry, provides him with a unique perspective on the challenges and risks faced by clients. Now as a senior broker within the Orion Insurance Group, David specializes in the Yacht, Shipping, Bunker and Commodity trader sector, forging his business focused understanding of the industry dynamics with tailored insurance solutions that meet each client's specific requirements.

Matteo Cevasco
Assistant Broker
Matteo is an Assistant Broker within our Dubai Marine team, with a particular focus on commercial vessel cover—arranging H&M, War, Increased Value, Loss of Hire and P&I solutions. He supports the senior marine broker team presenting risk information, preparing submissions, benchmarking quotations, and negotiating terms with insurers. Matteo began his career with Cambiaso Risso at its headquarters in Genoa before relocating to Dubai, bringing that experience and market insight to support the team and our clients in the region.
